On May 31 at 1:30 pm, a benefit event will be held in Seattle for the Ukrainian Community Center of Washington.

This is an Equity Members Project Code event.

The event includes a reading by Equity members Julie Briskman, Terry Edward Moore, and Barbara Callander. They will be reading Under Yelena, which is set in a time of fear and hope in Ukraine of 1991. Mark Lutwak, and The Klein Party will be providing music.

Summary

Despite the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, support for Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees has been decreasing. Aware of this, award-winning playwright and core member of the Northwest Playwrights Alliance, Buffy Sedlachek, inspired by the actions of her sister in law —who is deeply involved in providing aid to refugee families in Wisconsin and supporting humanitarian efforts in Ukraine — decided to organize this event for the Ukrainian Center.
